2001 Volvo S80 T6 – Classified of the Week

We like a Volvo here at Not 2 Grand. They’re solid, they’re safe, they’re normally outrageously comfortable and they are also pretty damn reliable. But more than that, Volvos can also be luxurious and even fast. Some can be both, like the car we have here – a stunning 2001 Volvo S80 T6. It’s a turbocharged battleship of a car. 268bhp on tap. A top speed of 155mph. A 0-62 dash in 7s. All in a car dripping with leather, pretend wood, cruise control and more safety features than the baby-proofing isle of Mothercare. It is the ultimate package.

You might, however, be of the opinion that twenty years may have taken their toll on this old S80. You’re probably thinking we’re going to tell you it as nine million miles on the clock, and it’s made up from three different cars. But we’re not. Not at all. This S80 T6 is a very rare find. Including the current, it’s had just three owners. The first was a company car driver, who racked up most of the miles. The second was an older gent who covered no more than 1,500 miles per year. He had the car from 2004 through to 2020. As such, the car has a mere 99k on the clock.

But wait, there’s more. This S80 also comes with full service history up to 80k miles. It has recently had a new timing belt and water pump etc, all fitted by a Volvo specialist. It’s been loved. Coveted in fact. Even the air-conditioning is ice cold having been recently re-gassed. From what we can glean form the advert, everything works. The acres of black leather are all in excellent condition. Nothing is broken, nothing is worn, nothing is battered. This could well be one of the nicest S80 Volvos out there.

Is it perfect? No, of course not. But it’s not far off. The only slight issue is that the car lived on a golf course when it was with the older gent who had the car for such a long time. As such, the advert reads; “The car is in very good all round condition, the paintwork is in great shape and really gleams when polished. Unfortunately the previous owner lived on a golf course so there are a few small dents that look suspiciously close to the size of a golf ball. Thankfully they are not too noticeable and I’m pretty sure these could be removed by a paintless dent specialist without too much trouble.” We’ve pored over the pictures, and we can’t see these dents, so they must be slight.

If you want a big car, laden with luxury and that can deliver an impressive turn of speed with it, this is the car. Is it the cheapest Volvo S80 out there? Of course not. And being a saloon-only body, it’s perhaps not the most practical. But so what? It’s got good history, it’s been looked after without question, it looks amazing in black and it surely still has hundreds of thousands of miles left in it. This has to be one the best S80s on the market at this price. Buy it. You’ll love it. Promise.
